After a critically (and financially) successful Creed release, director Ryan Coogler is now in the running to direct the upcoming Black Panther movie from Marvel.

Back in October there were multiple rumours and reports of Coogler being pursued by Marvel while none was completely confirmed, they seemed fairly accurate. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the talks between Coogler and the studio are in its early stages but are progressing.

Chadwick Boseman has been cast to play the role of T’Challa/Black Panther. He’s best known for his leading role in the Jackie Robinson film 42 and the quietly fantastic Get on Up. He can be seen in some of the quick action shots in the latest trailer for Captain America: Civil War. After originally being introduced in Fantastic Four comics back in the day, Black Panther eventually joined the Avengers and participated in the all-out Civil War storyline, siding with Iron Man.

After changing dates a few times already, Black Panther is currently scheduled for release on Feb. 16, 2018.

What do you think about this news and choice? Are you excited to see the Black Panther hero on the big screen?
