Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is getting mixed reactions online after losing the Democratic Senate primary in the state’s March 3 race. According to results released by the Texas Secretary of State’s office, Crockett was defeated by state Rep. James Talarico, who secured 53% of the vote while Crockett received 46%.
Following the results, Crockett took to X to publicly congratulate her opponent and urged Democrats to stay united moving forward. “This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee,” she wrote. “Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person. This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track.”
She also called on Democrats to rally behind their nominees ahead of the general election. “With the primary behind us, Democrats must rally around our nominees and win. I’m committed to doing my part and will continue working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot,” Crockett added.
However, hours before the results were announced, Crockett had suggested that the election may have been influenced by Republicans. While addressing her supporters on Tuesday night, she accused Republicans of cheating and urged voters to “remain resilient” in casting their ballots. “We cannot allow this type of behavior to be rewarded because so long as they know that they can win, even if it means cheating, then they will continue to do it,” she said.
Public Reactions Have Been Divided
After the results were announced early Wednesday, critics celebrated her loss. “Bye Felicia. You won’t be missed,” one person wrote on X. Another commented, “Congrats on your loss! America can heal.” A third added, “Please keep it up because you are toxic to the Dem party,” while someone else remarked, “America is so much better without your mouth and nonsense.”
At the same time, however, many supporters still came to Crockett’s defense and praised her work. “You are golden. Not going to lie. As a Texas, this was a tough one for many. Keep fighting. We need you and your voice ❤️,” one comment read. Another supporter said, “You’ll always be my favorite. I know we haven’t seen the last of you yet!” A different netizen also commented, “Very proud of the work you’ve done and looking forward to seeing you do your best work in whatever you decide to do. 💙”
