Crysis is coming to the Switch on July 23 and it appears that’s both good news and bad news.

The good news first. Crytek announced back on July 1 the remastered version of Crysis was delayed. At the time, the company didn’t say just how long the wait would be.

On Friday, Crytek took to its Facebook page again. This time it announced the delay for the switch version of Crysis is launching on time and lands on July 23.

The caveat here is that it’s only the Switch version that has the July launch date. No news is likely not good news when it comes to Crysis Remastered for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Crysis

No mention at all for those versions.

When Crytek first announced the delay, the company said it understood the look of the game wasn’t what fans were expecting. The graphics needed to get souped up in order to really look like a remastered anything.

Announcing nine days ago that the company needed to go back to the drawing board, and then saying “never mind” doesn’t bode well for the look of Crysis on the Switch.

It’s also worth pointing out the announcement does not include “Remastered” appended to the name. That might just be an oversight on the developer’s part. It might also be fully intentional.

It’s hard not to be a bit unenthused by the Switch being the only console where the game is arriving on time. It is, after all, the console where high-quality visuals struggle if not done right.

Perhaps Crytek decided they needed to release something this summer so they’re coming with a slightly souped-up version of Crysis.

It’s also worth pointing out Nintendo’s console is the only one where Crysis doesn’t exist in some form yet. Here’s hoping it’s not just pushing something out in order to get any sales.
