Legacy Of Kain fans has never stopped appreciating the morbidly grim world of the game and demanding the series make a return. It seems that might finally be happening, as Crystal Dynamics says it has gotten an overwhelming response to a recent survey that was meant to test the waters relating to the revival of the Legacy of Kain series.
In October this year, the company launched a questionnaire asking players whether they would like to see the dark vampire franchise return. This week the developer claimed that usually, such surveys get a few thousand responses at most, but the Legacy of Kain questionnaire received a whopping 100,000+ responses.
The Crystal Dynamics and Eidos CEO Phil Rogers said during parent company Embracer Group’s earnings call (transcribed by VGC):
We wanted to gain a community perspective on what players are looking for should we revisit the land of Nosgoth and our iconic IP, Legacy of Kain. In the past, we’ve found that surveys typically get between 1,000 and 3,000 responses, but when we asked folk about Legacy of Kain, we received over 100,000 responses. 73,000 gamers completed it entirely, and if you are one of them, we thank you very much, and we appreciate it was quite an effort given the survey was pretty extensive.
We saw the news of our survey shared across social and press platforms and we really felt this was a great way to reignite this passionate fan community with this legendary PC and console game series. Rest assured, we hear you loudly and clearly, and we will continue to update you on the what-if possibilities ahead for Legacy of Kain in the future.
Legacy Of Kain Series Getting a Sequel
The fans of the Legacy of Kain series still exist to this day, even though the series hasn’t seen an actual entry in almost 20 years. The original game Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain was made by Silicon Knights and published by Crystal Dynamics way back in 1996.
The sequel to Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, came out in 1999, developed by Crystal Dynamics and directed by Amy Hennin, who used to be a writer and director for Naughty Dog’s fan-favorite Uncharted series.
The Legacy of Kain games put players in the shoes of a vampire named Raziel on a path to avenging his attempted murder at the hands of his creator. A story that has not only held the test of time, but the world has not lost its marvel, even today.
The Legacy of Kain series was set to make a comeback in the form of Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun, which was more of a reboot of the series, set hundreds of years after the story of Soul Reaver. But that title was scrapped in 20212 due to unknown reasons. The only game related to the universe still in the wild is Nosgoth, a competitive multiplayer game. Not something fans really asked for. But it seems the series is set to make a return, as everyone is on board with the idea.
