Dan Levy, the mastermind behind the Emmy award-winning Netflix show, Schitt’s Creek, just signed a major Netflix TV and movie deal to produce and write content for the streaming powerhouse. According to Deadline, Levy’s first project will be an unnamed romantic comedy feature that he will direct, produce, star in, and write as well.

Joining Dan Levy will be Kate Fenske and Stacey Snider to help produce the yet-to-be-named feature. He is still under contract with ABC Signature until July of 2022 when his Netflix TV and movie deal begins. As of today, Levy still has a handful of features in the works through ABC Signature and an animated comedy with Hulu, that has yet to be released.
Levy spoke about why he decided to sign his new Netflix TV and movie deal:
Netflix offered Schitt’s Creek a second home at just the right time and opened the doors to a whole new audience for us. Watching the show thrive there has only enhanced my excitement about continuing to tell specific, meaningful stories with them in both tv and feature film. A full circle moment.”
This news should come as no surprise after Schitt’s Creek won nine, that’s right, nine prime-time Emmys at last years show. The show also became the most awarded comedy in Emmy history winning all the major awards like Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing and Directing Comedy Series. Eugene Levy and Katherine O’Hara also took home Emmys in acting categories.
Most recently Levy starred alongside Kristen Stewart in the romantic comedy Happiest Season for Hulu.
