It won’t be long now before you can die all over again. Dark Souls 3 has an official release date: April 12, 2016 (it comes out a few weeks earlier, March 24, in Japan). It is being released simultaneously on PC, XBox One, and Playstation 4. Judging from the trailer, the world is decidedly Dark Souls, but it appears to have adopted a bit more fluidity from the more recently released Bloodborne. Watch it for yourself below:

On the Dark Souls 3 official site, you can check out ordering options and get lost in a pictures and videos of the game. Right now, only two different editions are listed: the regular pre-order and the collector’s edition. The collector’s edition, in edition to a copy of Dark Souls 3, comes with an art book, a cloth map, the official game soundtrack, a metal case, a starter guide, a ten inch tall red knight statue, and a box to contain it all. There is a third pre-order edition that is missing from the official site (since it is an Amazon UK exclusive): the prestige edition.
It comes with everything in the regular collector’s edition, but also includes a huge Lord of Cinder statue (standing over a foot tall). This edition is only for the Dark Souls fanatic, as it will run you almost $500. But look at that statue!
The UK also gets the apocalypse edition of Dark Souls 3, but it contains just a few of the pieces of the other pre-order editions.
Dark Souls 3 looks like it will continue the series tradition of forcing you into outrageous boss battle and killing you. The series has gained quite a following due to its minimalist story and relentless difficulty. Earlier this year, Twitch took to the original Dark Souls and was able to complete it with a heavily modified version that eliminated some of the chaos in hundreds of people controlling one character.
