DC’s Booster Gold is finally getting the attention he deserves, and everyone is ready to celebrate. Earlier this week, James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled their plans for the DC film and television universe. Celebrating DC’s Booster Gold
For those unfamiliar, Booster Gold is the superhero alias for Michael Jon Carter. Created by Dan Jurgens, the hero first appeared in 1986’s Booster Gold #1. He would go on to eventually join the Justice League. With the help of advanced technology, Booster Gold can fly, possesses enhanced strength and visual powers, can time travel, and shoot gold energy blasts. Over the years, he has become a fan-favorite. That is why news of a Booster Gold television series has many excited for the direction of the DCU.
However, one man may be more excited than most, and that is the creator of Booster Gold, Dan Jurgens. After news of the show broke, Jurgens took to Twitter to celebrate. He shared his excitement about Booster Gold heading to HBO Max and then posted some of the original character sketches. These sketches, from 1984, were the original incarnations of what would become DC’s Booster Gold. He rounded out the post by offering his excitement to “see what’s next in the life of the greatest hero you never heard of”.
During the slate release for DC, Gunn and Safran shared that they have already started negotiations with an actor to portray Booster. While they offered no hints, fans are already theorizing who it could be. Many are thinking Gunn will reunite with Chris Pratt for the upcoming project.
The Future of DC
The Booster Gold show was just one of many reveals during Gunn and Safran’s preview. The duo announced ten projects that will be part of the relaunched DC Universe. They include a Peacemaker spin-off, the Lanterns police drama, and the animated Creature Commandos.
