Deep Silver has decided to drop developer Yager from production of Dead Island 2 putting the game in a very sorry state of affairs.

In a statement released to the press Deep Silver said the following:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager.

“We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

So where does this leave the game? Originally slated for spring 2015 release date it’s now been pushed back to a none specific quarter of time apart from 2016.

Dead Island was a huge success when originally released in 2011 by developer Techland selling more than 5 million copies making it Techland’s most successful game to date, it got a healthy metacritic review of 71/100 and i specifically remember when the game was released not being able to get a hold of it due to it being sold out making the burning desire to play it even stronger.

W
We want Dead Island 2.

But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Deep Silver part ways with a developer as Techland’s never came back to develop Dead Island 2 after working on Dead Island and its sequel Dead Island Riptide.

Techland decided to release there own zombie game anyway this year in the form of the much loved Dying Light which scored a higher metacritic of 74/100 and was praised for its combat and multiplayer and cooperative game play, in its first 45 days of release it sold 3.2 million units and to date sits at 4.5 million in the past 6 months arguably making it there new most successful ip.

So where do you think Deep Silver will go from here?

Are you that interested in the franchise anymore?

Or has Dying Light taken the new zombie mantel?
