You will encounter one of these tasks during the Room Service for Major Booker quest. You have to go to a large pool with a strange liquid and caustic fumes and find out what it is. To investigate the hotel pool in Dead Island 2, you will have to find and inspect three key objects near the pool, and we will help you with this.
How to Investigate the Hotel Pool in Dead Island 2
Although the area near the pool is not very large, caustic green fumes and a couple of zombies make it problematic to focus on and find what you need. As we said, to investigate the hotel pool in Dead Island 2, you must complete the investigated scale by 100%, and for this, you need to find only three of the following items:
- Fluid pump.
- Several containers.
- An ajar sewer grate with hoses.
When you enter the pool area for the first time, the first thing you notice is the chemical containers. Approach the pool and go left. Several white containers labeled Caustic-X are in the corner of the pool, and you have to interact with them.
After a short monologue of your character, go to the far corner of the pool and inspect the liquid pump. It’s still running and pumping a strange liquid, supposedly the same Caustic-X substance.

Finally, bypass the pool and go to the sewer drain near the food court. You will replace the hoses draining the Caustic-X substance into the sewers, and finally, your character will understand what is happening here. After that, you will complete the quest Investigate the Hotel Pool and will be able to proceed to the next stage of the Room Service for Major quest.
The military and city authorities use Caustic-X to dissolve the bodies and pour the remains into the sewers. It is probably why some locations in the sewers look more like meat rooms with rot and a bunch of zombies. However, you can see the effect of Caustic-X with your own eyes. Several zombies are walking around the pool, and you can kick them into Caustic-X.
