The first full trailer for Deadpool’s foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe has finally arrived. Directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy), the trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine gives fans a first proper look at Hugh Jackman’s return to Wolverine, while also showing off just how far the film goes with its R rating. Ryan Reynolds also stars in the film, as Wade Wilson/Deadpool. While the teaser trailer set up the film well, this one brings Wolverine into the story, teasing that this Wolverine comes from a timeline where he failed the X-Men.

What’s New in the Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer?

There are a number of characters that appear in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, most notably, Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova. Nova has been reported to be the film’s villain, which is why you can see her controlling Wolverine with her telekinetic abilities. In the shot where they seem to be using the corpse of Ant-Man as a base, you can also see some X-Men villains, including Lady Deathstrike, Azazel, and possibly Toad. Deadpool also seemingly adds another member to his family in the form of Dogpool, which is the dog that is dressed like Deadpool.

At one point you can also see Alioth from Loki, presumably eating the remains of the Fox X-Men universe. Of course, this film will bridge the gap between that universe and the MCU, and Deadpool will be working with the Time Variance Authority from Loki. Matthew Macfadyen’s character Paradox will be his main point of contact. The end of the trailer shows Deadpool and Wolverine escaping from what looks like Ant-Man’s skull with an Inter-Dimensional Portal, so either they found a sling ring or a certain sorcerer might be making an appearance too.

You can catch the bloody and profanity-filled Deadpool & Wolverine when it flies into theaters on July 26, 2024.
