This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information.

Hideo Kojima has released some more wacky news about the bizarrely titillating Death Stranding. In a Tweet, Kojima shared with us some images of the limited edition PS4 Pro bundle. Alongside this is the caption:

“By setting, you’ll be able to have BB’s voice coming out from this BBish controller.”

BB is the name of the jar baby that Norman Reedus’ character Sam carries with him throughout Death Stranding. A Newsweek article explains the purpose of the BBs as being a link between the living world and the world of the dead. And, of course, Death Stranding being what it means that you must return the BBs to an artificial incubator in order to relieve them from “excessive stress.” Who else is loving the insanity here?

Death Stranding and the Talking Baby

Discussing the news, they presented the uncertainty of whether or not this feature is exclusive to this PS4 Pro bundle. However, the article is quick to state that many other games have used the Daulshock 4’s speaker. So, it is likely that this just part of the game, no matter the system.

But what sort of sounds are we expecting? Wouldn’t it be slighlty creepy if we heard BB cooing every five minutes? Or are we in for something stranger? Nothing has been confirmed here, but it does have some strange appeal to it. This will also appease those who were disappointed by the absence of a tiny BB in the bundle’s controller.

Death Stranding

What we can say for certain is that Kojima is enjoying being the most Kojima he can be. And, in this reporter’s opinion, I couldn’t be more glad. It’s about time we got a little more insanity in our games. Risk taking leads to revolution and Death Stranding may indeed be a forbearer to a revolution in video game storytelling.

Death Stranding releases on November 8 2019.
