Chaos and outrage followed the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Tuesday, when a man was caught on video looting Kirk’s merchandise stand moments after paramedics carried the 31-year-old away. Video posted to X by commentator Ian Miles Cheong shows a man grabbing “America Comeback Tour” hats and merchandise from Kirk’s display table before police had even secured the crime scene.
“After Charlie Kirk was taken away by paramedics, a man looted the stand to collect souvenirs of his death before police could even canvas the crime scene. Absolutely despicable,” Cheong wrote alongside the clip.
In the footage, the looter can be seen stuffing items under his arm as stunned bystanders looked on, underscoring the chaos in the moments after Kirk was fatally shot. The incident sparked immediate backlash online, with critics calling him “pitiful” and “unbelievable.” “He needs to be held accountable,” one X user wrote.
Charlie Kirk Assassinated At Utah Rally
Kirk, a staunch ally of Donald Trump and founder of Turning Point USA, was struck once in the neck while launching his “America Comeback Tour” at the Orem, Utah campus. Roughly 3,000 people were in attendance when the shot rang out. The suspect remains at large, and investigators have not released a description. Authorities confirmed the shooter fired from a rooftop before fleeing, and a manhunt is ongoing.
The killing has sent shockwaves through conservative circles, already rattled after last year’s assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania. President Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead.” House Speaker Mike Johnson called the assassination “an attack on all of us,” while GOP leaders demanded swift justice.
Kirk’s rise in Republican politics was meteoric, launching Turning Point USA in 2012, he became one of Trump’s closest allies and a leading figure in the populist conservative movement. His death marks one of the most high-profile political assassinations in recent U.S. history, leaving supporters mourning and demanding answers.
