In the days leading up to Destiny 2‘s Final Shape Expansion, Bungie wants to give us the best chance possible against the Witness, which involves giving us the Prismatic subclass. Prismatic is rather unique, yet still familiar. Something entirely new isn’t easy to understand sometimes, but considering most of the new aspects of it are simply old ones that have been repurposed and reimagined, it might be a bit easier. Prismatic gives us the ability to combine parts of both dark and light subclasses to create something Destiny players have yet to see. Let’s look at everything going on with the Prismatic subclass in Destiny 2.

The Prismatic subclass allows you to wield both Darkness and Light while creating a custom subclass of abilities that appear on either side of the divide between the two. That said, you can choose the most powerful of the abilities between the other subclasses and combine them to make a super subclass of sorts. However, you’ll also have access to new Prismatic abilities as well that will help to tie each build together. In essence, you should take everything you thought you knew about subclass builds and throw it out the window. It’s time to learn some new stuff.

Unlocking Prismatic will be pretty simple compared to previous subclasses. As soon as you start The Final Shape’s campaign, from the very first mission, you’ll gain access to a pre-determined Prismatic build that will have a combination of both Light and Dark abilities, Fragments, and Aspects. So, that means you won’t have to grind like crazy to get half of a subclass by the end of the campaign. You’ll be able to use the subclass throughout the entirety of it and, finally, unlock more pieces of the puzzle through mission rewards, post-campaign quests, and even collectibles that can be found throughout the world. As you play through The Final Shape’s campaign missions, and even beyond, you’ll continue to collect Aspects, as well as Supers, Fragments, and more.

The Prismatic subclass for Titans puts quite a bit of focus on disabling enemies, then healing high damage attacks to them after. One example of this takes place in the starting Titan Prismatic build, where Diamond Lance freezes enemies while Thunderclap takes them out.

Whenever you reach Transcendence,, which is done by dealing both Light and Dark damage to fill your Transcendence bar, you will have access to new types of grenades, and both your melee and grenade energy will be refreshed and will refill faster. During this time, dealing grenade damage will regenerate your melee bar faster and dealing melee damage will regenerate your grenade bar faster. Additionally, you will resist more damage than usual.
