What is the Root of Nightmares in Destiny 2?

The Root of Nightmares is the newest raid event that started on March 10, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET. This is Bungie’s World’s First raid race, and the most experienced and high-caliber players compete for the top spot on the leaderboard. The goal is to complete this raid as a team in two and a half hours.

How do you beat the Root of Nightmares in Destiny 2?

You must grind through the event as four significant encounters, Cataclysm, Sission, Macrocosm, and Nezarec. First, you will have to go through an introduction section to the event, and then the Cataclysm will occur. Here are the tips for each team.

Introduction.

This is the opening section of the raid, and you need to go straight until the end and then go to the left. Go until you see a giant statue, and do not forget there are a lot of enemies here. Once you have passed the statue, go along the corridor to the left and follow the curved path to the first encounter.

Cataclysm.

This stage needs you to shoot the Orb granting a buff called Field of Light; then, they must go in the direction that light Orb is pointing and unlock another Light Orb.

1. Divide your team into two parts. Four people must shoot enemies, granting you more time in the arena. Two people must shoot at light Orbs and unlock other Light orbs.
2. Ensure not to grab  Field of Light simultaneously for two players because it will lock the event.
3. The timer is called Sweeping Terror debuff, and your team will wipe out if you do not complete it on time.
4. Once you connect all orbs, you will grant access to the next level.

Sission

As the second phase of  Destiny 2, Root of Nightmares Guide, You have to complete Sission. It has two spears, Light Orbs, and Darkness Spear. The Light Orbs works similarly to the Cataclysm. If you go inside the Dark Spear, you will get a different Buff called Flux of Darkness. However, it is operated with the same mechanics as a field of light. The goal is to connect orbs in a zig-zag pattern.

1. Split your team into two groups. One group must be on the dark side while the other group in the light side.
2. Two players must stay permanently on the same side and clear enemies. Some enemies can be damaged only with a field of light.
3. The other player (Buff Runner) jumps back and forth to two sides.
4. One must be assigned to activate the Orb from two players clearing the enemies. Once the Buff runner confirms the activation of the other ball, this player must grab the Field of light and activate the next Orb.
5. Repeat the process for all three stages.

Macrocosm

In this challenge, you must correctly align the planets (Light planets to the right and dark planets to the left). There are four Triangular platforms located, two on each side. Each platform holds three planets, and once they are completed, it will glow, showing you have completed that platform.

1. Kill enemies at the start.
2. Split the group into three teams, two for each section.
3. One group must clear the enemies.
4. One group must move the Light planets.
5. One group must move the Dark planets.
6. Defeating Colossal will grant you a buff called Planetary insight.
7. Once completed, the planet index will appear.
8. Communicate with each partner and assign each planet. then collect the planet and locate it in the correct position of the platform.
9. Clear enemies and prepare for the damage phase.
10. The boss will come toward you, and his shield will glow light or dark. Stand on the light or dark plate according to his shield color.
11. Once all plates are used, the game progress will reset, and you must rerun it. Use DPS Rocket launchers to damage the boss.

Nezarec

This is the final phase of Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Guide. It aims to connect the light and dark orbs of each side. Once you have completed the damage phase will start. Shoot Nezarec to his chest to stunt him. Failing to do so will wipe out your team. 6. When the Nazarecs’ shoulder is dark, take Dark refugee; when it is white, take light refugee.
7. Knock the Nazarec in his final stands by reducing his health and completing the raid.
