Bungie has been teasing us so much lately with new information regarding Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, and the latest details come from the brand-new launch trailer. Now, we all know Bungie is at the top of the game when it comes to game trailers. Each one made for the game’s expansion has been great and has hyped players while also hooked us with some story details. However, this recent one is a bit different, in a good way. In a sense, it seems like Bungie took a page from Remedy’s bizarre book of trailers, and I’m all in for that.
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Launch Trailer Has Many ‘Remedy-like’ Elements
Today, Bungie hosted a livestream to provide us with more information about the upcoming expansion. Many things are coming to The Edge of Fate, including the new planet activity, world tiers, and more. However, we’ll leave that for a different article. Here’s all about the new trailer for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, which has a lot of mystery behind it and looks like something straight out of Control.
Lore aficionados and YouTubers might already have a 3-hour video dissecting this trailer, but I won’t go that far. What I can say, however, is that Bungie is aiming for a brand-new era for the game, which is shrouded in mystery, and I love that. Yes, we can see some combat scenes with some class skills, and that Thor-like ability for the Titan’s hammer, but what really allured me were the other details of the man, the phone, and some elements that seem reminiscent of the 50s or 60s. How will they work in Kepler? That’s unknown, but the story already looks intriguing and, most importantly, accessible for newcomers.
A Perfect Starting Point

Now, I’d like to take the time to say how this trailer reassured me that the expansion will be perfect for players like me. I’m not a veteran. I joined during The Final Shape and had a blast. However, everything felt overwhelming, and not just the systems, but the story. Even when I watched all the trailers and a recap of the plot, I still didn’t have the whole picture, which made my time in the story a bit harder to follow, yet not impossible. But now, and just by looking at the launch trailer of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, I feel more confident. While I imagine veteran Guardians caught details and references here and there, it feels new to me, and something I feel will finally open the doors to me in Destiny 2 and allow me to start alongside a new generation of Guardians.
Ultimately, The Edge of Fate looks promising. The fact that it gave me Control vibes is a good sign, especially since Kepler seems like a puzzling place that will kick off a new voyage for all of us. Furthermore, I’m curious to see how it will transition to Renegades, which is inspired by Star Wars. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long, as we’re around two weeks away from landing on this new planet. Let’s just hope the plot really ends up being as peculiar as the trailer, because it would really sell that “journey to a new uncharted planet” fantasy.
