Crossplay has become a major component in gaming today. If a game does not have it, it leaves a sour taste in people’s mouths. If you have multiple platforms and want to play Diablo 4, then don’t worry, as your save crosses over, thanks to crossplay. How does it work, though? We explain the ins and outs, so you know how it works and any other important details. Whether you are playing alone or with friends on a console, PC, or Steam Deck, if you find a workaround to get the ARPG to work on the device, then you will have an easy time across your character(s).

No matter how you feel about Battle.net as a service, it comes in handy for Diablo 4 due to its crossplay system. On PC or Steam Deck, it is easy as you will have Battle.net downloaded to your system, connecting your game right into your account. For console players, you need one extra step. You will need to go to Account Overview, then Connections. From there, connect your profile to whatever platform you have. Diablo 4 is only available on PlayStation and Xbox, so in this case, connecting your Switch will not do you any good when battling Lilith. While you are there, you can also connect your Apple, Google, Facebook, and Twitch accounts.

Cross progression is also available. So, beyond playing with friends on different platforms, you will keep your gear and any story progress across platforms. This is all because the Battle.net servers store all of this information.

By having a crossplay save in Diablo 4, you can play with friends in a variety of ways. You will be able to enjoy playing across platforms, the same platform, and couch co-op for you console players out there. Co-op is only available after the Prologue when you reach the city Kyovashad in the Fractured Peaks. From there, the MMO-like elements start to unfold for you to enjoy the entirety of what Blizzard designed for you monster slayers.

The crossplay feature in Diablo 4 is important. As Blizzard aimed for an always-online experience, playing across platforms and having friends scattered on other platforms makes it easier to go through Sanctuary wherever you want and with whoever.

Diablo 4 is available on PS4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X|S, and PC. It releases worldwide on June 6 and is available now for Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners.
