Diablo 4 is maintaining a strong series of improvements from Season 4. Season 5 or Season of the Infernal Hordes has proven to be a smooth transition between the huge gameplay changes of Season 4 and the upcoming expansion, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred. Naturally, you’d want to reach the endgame right away to get to the meat of the game, so here’s a fast leveling guide for Diablo 4 Season 5.
D4 Season 5 Leveling Guide Progression (1-50)
[Updated on August 13, 2024 – Revised the leveling methods based on Season 5 changes]
This progression guide is for solo players or those who don’t belong in a Leveling Clan. Otherwise, you can just ask your higher-level Leveling Clan members or friends to carry you past the Capstone Dungeons and higher-level areas.
You can pick among the following five best leveling builds (one for each class) as they offer the smoothest and fastest leveling experience:
- Chain Lightning Sorcerer
- Minion Necromancer
- Barrage Rogue
- Lightning Storm Druid
- Whirlwind Barbarian
Some of these, like the Chain Lightning Sorcerer and the Minion Necromancer, can easily transition into the same or similar top-tier class once you’re in World Tier 4. Sorcerer, especially, has been buffed well this season. Remember to always start in World Tier 2.
Leveling in Diablo 4 Season 5 is a bit different since unlike Season 4, most of the gameplay goodies are middle or back-loaded. Infernal Hordes don’t exactly unlock for you until you’re well in World Tier 3. But the good news is that Helltides remains as viable as ever. They will be your main low-level leveling area for Diablo 4 Season 5.
Keep doing Helltides from Levels 1-30. To ensure an even faster leveling process for your character, you can also include these supplements and methods. Some of them come with innate experience buffs.
- Always use Elixirs during Helltides. They drop much more frequently now and you don’t need to conserve them. Each one usually gives additional experience gained.
- Party up. Like Elixirs, parties give experience bonuses.
- Use fast leveling builds or classes such as:
- Minion Necromancers
- Incinerate Sorcerer
- Barrage Rogue
- Park your character near Accursed Rituals. These are summoning areas for the new Helltide Bosses. Join the fight as soon as someone summons the boss.
You’ll want to keep doing this until you reach Level 30 or so, after that, you can move on to a riskier leveling prospect– if you can.
Try the WT3 Capstone Dungeon Starting at Level 30
Once you get to Level 30 or even in the high 20s (once you’ve finally unlocked your class-specific mechanic), do attempt the Capstone Dungeon in Kyovashad. They’re recommended for Level 50 characters, but that’s just a recommendation and with the right Tempering on your items and a good focus on your build, you can unlock World Tier 3 way earlier.
In case you fail, you can always come back with a higher level and better gear. Or you can ask around in World Chat for someone to carry you. It’s not exactly taboo at this stage in the game’s life cycle anymore.
Once you get to World Tier 3, keep doing Helltides and the Seasonal quest until you get to Level 50. You can also do some Infernal Hordes dungeon runs to level up and gain gold or gear at the same time.
D4 Season 5 Leveling Guide Progression (51-100)
This is where your avenues for leveling in Diablo 4 Season 5 can diverge. You can still keep doing Helltides if you can up until Level 60, but once you hit Level 60 or close to it, I advise you to also attempt the World Tier 4 Capstone Dungeon so you can farm Ancestral gear while leveling.
Push to World Tier 4 If You Can
World Tier 4 is your penultimate goal after reaching Level 50+ so you can start farming your gear to transition into an endgame build. Depending on your class, you might find it easy or a bit too close for comfort.
Necromancers, Druids, and Barbarians will likely excel here, but if you want higher chances of clearing this dungeon, remember to bolster your HP/Life as much as you can (damage is typically not an issue at this point).
Once you’re in World Tier 4, you can still keep doing Helltides until you reach Level 70+. After that, try out the following alternatives to leveling.
Run Nightmare Dungeons
For Nightmare Dungeons, make it your goal to run Tier 90+ because only then will 925 Item Power Ancestral gear will drop for you. You want 925 Item Power to ensure that you get the most out of your drops (and simply because they’re stronger).
Additionally, bring some Rare Glyphs you obtained from Helltides and level them up in Nightmare Dungeons to complete your build.
Run Infernal Hordes
Infernal Hordes are alternatives to Nightmare Dungeons and they’re great if you’re running short on gold. Moreover, Infernal Hordes dungeons are less exhausting to run since you don’t need to constantly move your character.
Run the Pit and Other Endgame Content
Last but not least, head into the Pit for Masterworking. It’s not as lucrative as Infernal Hordes for gold and gear, but you’ll still need to go here anyway to min-max your whole gear setup. Do note that going in here too early is ill-advised.
At least try to have your character at Level 80+ before you attempt to push The Pit into higher Tiers. In any case, leveling is even faster this time, and shouldn’t take more than a couple of days.
