If you haven’t had the chance to discover Revachol’ seedy underbelly together with Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi, you are in luck. To celebrate Disco Elysium‘s first anniversary, developer and publisher ZA/UM is offering a 30% discount on Steam starting today October 15 until October 26 from $39.99 to $27.99.
And if you have had the chance, there is one new way to experience it again. Well, at least for the first part of the game. An internet fan Colin Brannan has made a short port/demake for Game Boy over at csbrannan.itch.io just in time for Disco Elysium’s anniversary. You can simply play it straight on your web browser of choice (even on mobile). But in case you need another layer of authenticity, the demake can even be downloaded as a ROM and played on an actual Game Boy. Or an emulator as well, if that’s more your style.
Aside from the cute fan-made demake, the Disco Elysium anniversary update also introduced a brand new language changing feature into the game. This feature allows for seamless language switching anywhere in-game at the tap of a button. During any dialogue, you can switch to and from any language in an instant.
Head of Publishing at ZA/UM Mikk Metsniit thanked their fanbase for their support and positive response while celebrating Disco Elysium’s anniversary:
“We’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the game over the last year. We’ve had such an overwhelmingly positive response to Disco Elysium and this last year has been a radical journey for the whole team. We really appreciate everyone who has played the game and are really grateful to our amazing fan base.”
Disco Elysium is touted as an open-world RPG with an “insane amount” of choices and consequences. Our review agreed, stating the game will give you a completely different experience “based on the choices you make”. It was first released on PC via Steam and GOG on October 15, 2019. ZA/UM said that they will be releasing the console version this year. It’s also getting a live-action adaptation. What are you waiting for? Grab Disco Elysium before the discount ends! Or if you’ve played the game, try the Game Boy demake. Don’t forget to tell me what you think of it in the comments.
