Discord subscription used to mostly be about flexing fancy profiles and custom emojis. Not anymore, as the voice chat app is turning it into something far more tempting for gamers. It has now teamed up with Microsoft to bundle the Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition with Discord Nitro. Right now, Xbox has only officially confirmed six games for the Nitro version of Game Pass Starter Edition. However, rumors and leaks suggest a larger lineup of more than 50 games similar to Essential may be added down the line. Just like the other Game Pass tiers, the list will continue to change as new games rotate in throughout 2026.
Nitro members also receive 10 hours of cloud gaming every month, letting you stream and try games without fully downloading them first.

How Much is Discord Nitro and Its Perks Beyond Game Pass
The full Discord Nitro subscription costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. Aside from the headlining Game Pass, Discord also updated or added several smaller perks to the service:
- Nitro members now receive 250 Discord Orbs every month automatically.
- Bonus 1.2x Orbs multiplier from completing Discord Quests.
- Discounts for eligible gaming gear brands with new offers rotating regularly, including:
- Up to 30% off Logitech G products.
- 15% off SteelSeries products.
- 20% off KontrolFreek products.
- Do note that to receive discount codes, you must use the desktop app.
How to Access Xbox Game Pass Through Discord Nitro
- Open the Discord app.
- Go to the ‘Nitro’ tab. Click the blue ‘Direct Message’ icon on the top left first if you can’t find it.
- Look for the ‘Xbox Game Pass’ menu under ‘Rewards’ or ‘Benefits.’
If you don’t see the option yet, don’t panic. Discord says the feature is rolling out gradually over the coming weeks, and availability depends on eligible regions, as seen below.

- You have an active Discord Nitro membership through a paid membership, Nitro Gift, and Nitro Trials.
- You are not an existing Xbox Game Pass subscriber.
