According to one customer, the situation began when his cousin simply asked for extra caramel. The employee responded by mocking his cousin’s hijab and making racist remarks, even proudly declaring, “I’m racist and you are a [N-word],” with an unapologetic smile. She went so far as to threaten to throw water on the young woman.
The Wisconsin Karen continued her racist rant, repeating, “I’m racist and I would say that to the entire world.” She then told the Somali customers not to be disrespectful, even though she was the only one behaving that way. She didn’t stop there, either. She flipped them off, and when one customer told her she would be fired, she made a vulgar gesture and told him to “suck it.” She may soon regret her actions, because Cinnabon has already terminated her employment. In a statement, the company said, “We’ve seen the disturbing video from the Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, WI, and we do not condone this behavior. The former employee was immediately terminated by the franchise owner. Their actions do not reflect our values or the welcoming experience every guest deserves.” they wrote on X.
