Does Diablo 4 have set gear like in previous games? Set gear was one of the strongest endgame grinds in Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, and set buffs were important to your character. This gear set of six items was shown in green, and getting them was bliss for players. Set bonuses could completely turn your class into something else and offer different gameplay. Unfortunately, set gear is not currently a part of Diablo 4. Unlike previous Diablo titles, items do not combine into sets and receive special bonuses. This is a very different Diablo experience for many players. Because the set gear mechanic takes up most of the game. According to many, set items are a highly essential part of the game. Not seeing this feature in Diablo 4 disappointed many players.

However, according to Game Director Joe Shely and Associate Game Director Joseph Piepiora, although set items are not with us at launch, they will be added to the game in the near future. “As we’ve been building the game, we felt like we could evolve sets in a new way relative to what we’ve seen in Diablo 3. But we needed some more time to get them into the game in a way that would work well with the rest of Diablo 4. So you won’t see sets at launch in the game. We think sets are cool, and we want to do them right. So that’s something we’re looking at for our live service.”

This means that we will not see set items anytime soon. However, it cannot be ruled out that most players have been looking for set items since the game’s launch. Therefore, the set gear mechanic will eventually return.

When Is Set Gear Coming?

Although they confirmed that the set gear will come to Diablo 4, there is no clear information about when it will happen. Considering that the season rewards were set items in Diablo 3, they can re-introduce set items with the first season of Diablo 4 starting in July.
