It doesn’t matter which LEGO game is your favorite, it’s instantly better with split-screen co-op. Now that LEGO Fortnite has been brought into the world, there’s no doubt that people will be starting up the game with split-screen co-op on their minds. Considering that this gameplay mode is the backbone of the LEGO game series, let’s dive into whether or not LEGO Fortnite supports split-screen co-op.

Epic Games has officially announced that split-screen co-op is currently not available in LEGO Fortnite. While this is definitely sad news for some players, the announcement also insinuates that it’s a feature that is actively being worked on. You’re still able to play co-op with your friends at the moment, it’s just limited to online play as opposed to being next to one another.

From the get-go, LEGO games have supported split-screen co-op. Part of the purpose of these games is to give families a game that can be played together without needing any third-party multiplayer subscription services. With this new addition to the franchise, giving the younger audience members a safe place to play one of the biggest games on the planet was at the forefront. It’s possible that in order to meet a 2023 release date, the feature was postponed. However, we don’t know for certain exactly why it isn’t there currently.

We also don’t know for certain if the feature will be added at all. Out speculation comes from how previous LEGO games have been handled. Since just about all of them included a split-screen co-op feature, we assumed it would be added to LEGO Fortnite eventually.
