Palworld is the monster collecting and base-building game of your dreams, allowing you to roam an open world and catch cool monsters while surviving the perils of the area around you. This detailed game is steadily gaining popularity, and with co-op functionality, you’ll want to sit down and explore the game with your friends. Unfortunately, if you’re using a different system than your friends, you might not be able to explore Palworld with them without crossplay.
Does Palworld feature crossplay?
Unfortunately, as of this writing, Palworld does not feature traditional crossplay functionality. This means you cannot transfer your progress from Palworld on Steam to any other featured platform, such as Xbox or even Xbox Game Pass. Your progress on your Steam account won’t carry over at all, so you’ll need to choose which platform you purchase the game on carefully. This, of course, means you will have to coordinate purchases with your friends, as well.
However, if you’re playing Palworld on the Xbox Game Pass, you can play with any friends currently on Xbox, as the PC Game Pass is technically a part of that platform. So while popular crossplay features, such as cross saving, cross progression, etc., aren’t possible, there is a way to crossplay between Xbox and PC with your friends. Note: playing with any friends on Xbox is impossible if you own the Steam version of Palworld.
Good news is on the horizon, though, as the developers have stated their intent to eventually allow crossplay between Xbox and Steam through an FAQ on Steam, stating they “are working to make this a possibility as soon as possible.”
What platforms are Palworld available on?
Fortunately, we know that the developers are interested in adding crossplay to Palworld in the future. If their intent is true, we’ll eventually be able to play the game on multiple systems. Currently, the game is only available on Steam, Xbox, and Xbox Game Pass, limiting the world of Palworld to PC and Xbox users only. (And for you Steam users, modders are already working on creating detailed mods for the game.)
The developers were a bit dodgy when players asked whether or not the game would be available for the PS5, stating that “[they] don’t have plans for this at the moment, but will consider it during development.” The Nintendo Switch is likely out of the question, for obvious reasons. So we wouldn’t count on Palworld expanding to different platforms shortly. (Although, with its massive success, it isn’t out of the question.)
