Does Tarot Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Horror and astrology go hand in hand, or at least that’s what you can expect from Tarot, a horror film releasing on May 3, 2024. Written and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, the film is based on a book named Horrorscope. Tarot follows a group of friends who are cursed after using some mysterious tarot cards. It stars Harriet Slater (Pennyworth), Avantika (Mean Girls), Humberly González (Ginny & Georgia), and Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Homecoming). As it is a horror movie, you might be wondering if it tees anything up for a sequel. So, let’s see if Tarot has a post-credits scene.

Is There a Post-Credits Scene in Tarot?

Tarot technically has a post-credits scene, but the terminology could be debatable. Once you think the movie ends, the title card pops up, and the credits music starts. But, just before the credits begin it cuts back to the characters as they were right before the title card continuing the scene. The scene essentially interrupts the start of the credits. So, if you count the end title card as the beginning of the credits – which it usually is – there is a short post-credits scene right after Tarot ends. However, there’s nothing else after that short stinger.

You could always stay and watch the credits while thinking about all the hardworking people who were responsible for the film. Or you could give your usher a break and leave as soon as the scene is over. Although, it does have some uniquely stylized closing credits so you might want to stick around for those at least. As for a sequel, the film’s ending leaves the door open and the story does have some franchise potential. While it could have used another post-credits scene at the end teasing something further, it’s fine that it ends on the slightly comedic note that it does.

But, just because it leaves the door open for a sequel, it doesn’t mean that there will be a follow-up to Tarot. We’ll need to see how it fares at the box office before anybody starts drafting up sequel plans. If it does do well it has a solid foundation to work off of, which is more than we can say for some popular horror franchises. You can catch Tarot in theaters from May 3, 2024.
