The Antichrist has returned in The First Omen, the prequel to the 1976 Richard Donner horror classic, The Omen. Directed by Arkasha Stevenson in her feature debut, The First Omen focuses on the birth of the Antichrist, who is known as Damian in The Omen and its various sequels and spinoffs. It stars Nell Tiger Free (Game of Thrones), Ralph Ineson (The Witch), Sônia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), and Bill Nighy (Love Actually). As it is an entry in a major horror franchise, you might be wondering if The First Omen has a post-credits scene. So, let’s take a look at the film.
Does The First Omen Contain a Post-Credits Scene?
If you want to hang around the theater aimlessly feel free to do so, but you should know that The First Omen does not have a post-credits scene. So, you can go to the bathroom as soon as the movie ends if that’s what you want. You can also watch the names of everyone who worked on the movie, including the credit to the late Jerry Goldsmith for composing the terrific score for the original The Omen. But, you don’t need to and can leave whenever you want without the fear that you’ve missed a tease setting up a sequel.
The First Omen is like the original film in that it didn’t have a post-credits scene either. Weirdly enough, it leaves room for a sequel – one that isn’t The Omen. Whether or not we get a sequel to the prequel depends on how it fares at the box office. The ending mirrors the original film as well, which was probably intentional. Because the film does have an open ending, it should lack a post-credits scene.
There aren’t many questions left unanswered after The First Omen ends. Any questions about the movie – other than the obvious questions regarding the ending – are answered in The Omen anyway. If you are interested in the franchise and this is the first one you’ve seen, there are five other movies you can watch, including a remake of the original. Of course, they’re all pretty spooky. You can get terrified yourself when The First Omen rises into theaters on April 5, 2024.
