The next major expansion for Don’t Starve is coming soon to Steam Early Access. It is titled Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked.

Available December 1, players will be able to get their hands on the newest update to developer Klei Entertainment’s popular survival game. Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked re-imagines the Don’t Starve lore by stranding main protagonist Wilson on a tropical island where he will encounter all new obstacles and enemies to overcome. Posted on the Klei forums, the new expansion will contain “new seasons, creatures, biomes, and many other exciting ways to die.”

The Early Access will only be available on PC, leaving consoles and mobile builds of the game out of luck for now. Additionally, Mac and Linux support will not be available at launch. Delving further into detail, Klei revealed on their forum post that players will not need the previous Don’t Starve expansion ‘Reign of Giants’ to play, although ‘Shipwrecked’ will be fully compatible with existing expansions. As of now, Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked is single-player only and will not work with Don’t Starve: Together (the multiplayer build of the game).

Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked has yet to receive an official release date, and it is still unknown which platforms the expansions will be coming to. Klei has stated, “Right now, we’re focused on making the PC version as good as it can be,” despite the surety of ‘Shipwrecked’ coming to consoles and handhelds.
