Back in the day, if you asked me if I wanted to pull an Eric Cartman and go into cryosleep to wait for a game, I would’ve done it for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4. Now dubbed as Dragon Ball: Sparking ZERO, it is unbelievable to see it finally got a release date. While it might not be a big deal for many, allow me to tell you this fighting series is one of the greatest ever made in the Dragon Ball universe. With so many Super characters coming and a tight post-launch plan, I couldn’t be happier.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO – Release Date Announcement Trailer

On October 11, Z Fighters will enjoy one of the most beloved fighting franchises under a new spotlight. Our on-site team was there at the scene to see the trailer and confirmed the audience couldn’t hold the excitement. Besides the recently announced characters, there are many more coming post-launch. Currently, the official site claims 20+ fighters are coming in the game’s season pass. Beyond that, there are certain goodies for those eager to pre-order the game now.

Anyone who pre-orders Dragon Ball: Sparking ZERO will unlock Gogeta and Broly, along with their transformations, early. Plus, if you get the deluxe edition, you get a three-day early access to play the game. As for goodies, deluxe, collector’s, and premium editions will include emote packs, an outfit for Goku, the season pass, and more. The standard and premium collector’s editions will include a diorama, a metallic bookmark, and even cards for the TCG.

However, the biggest reveal and the one thing I’m most excited about is the ‘What If’ approach to the story. Nowadays, Dragon Ball‘s story isn’t new to anyone. We’ve had so many retellings that not even I, as a fan, can keep up with. Still, the ‘What If’ scenarios are some of my favorites, and the trailer already has us a sneak peek at Goku turning into Super Saiyan earlier and some new scenes at the Cell Games.

While I’m intrigued about all the playable characters coming to Dragon Ball: Sparking ZERO on its release date and beyond, I’m more excited about the story and fighting mechanics. So far, everything looks fantastic. I only hope we get some GT characters and even movie ones. But it seems we’ll have to wait a few months to learn more. Still, Summer Game Fest isn’t over, and our team is there, ready to give you any behind-the-scenes coverage.
