The development of the game was led by the “Legendary” trio of creators including series mastermind Yuji Horii, composer Koichi Sugiyama, and artist Akira Toriyama. The game features 13 characters taken from different games throughout the Dragon Quest series. Those characters include Alena from Dragon Quest IV, Bianca from Dragon Quest V, and Yangus from Dragon Quest VIII.
The story of the game has a dark cloud falling over the city of Arba, driving the once peaceful monsters into a frenzied rage. Plays control either the hero, Luceus, or the heroine, Aurora, and join forces with an iconic cast from previous Dragon Quest titles to bring the rampaging hordes of monsters to their senses and restore order to the kingdom.
Players will find themselves summoning monsters to their side with the use of Monster Medals, upgrading their equipment and items by obtaining loot and customizing their characters’ skill trees in order to defeat the most formidable of foes.
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below is available now for $59.99. The Day One Edition, including 5 in-game items, is available for $59.99 at all participating retailers. The Slime Collector’s Edition is available for $99.99 and will feature a premium treasure chest style box containing exclusive physical items and downloadable content is available through the Square Enix Online Store.
