Life with an addiction is one of the hardest things out there that anyone can deal with. Many lives unfortunately ended due to drug addiction. One drug addict managed to get his life together after battling addiction for a while. The transformation is simply jaw-dropping. He started a new life in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. People celebrated his remarkable achievement, which not many people can attain. The difference between the before and after is enough evidence that there is still a chance to improve and become anything other than a drug addict.
In the before picture, you can see the former drug addict in a heartbreaking condition. He looks way too thin and unkempt. Even his clothes look worn out. If you saw this picture alone, you would think that this drug addict would never get his life together. He, however, managed to change the direction of his life. In the second picture, the after one, you see a completely different person. His health is restored, he is wearing a nice suit, and you almost forget how he looked when he was a drug addict. He ended up attaining a Computer Information Systems degree with a 4.0 average. People commented on the impressive achievement and even found a way to make lighthearted jokes about the situation.
How Did People React to the Drug Addict’s Transformation?
In the comments under the Reddit post, people were in awe of the transformation from a drug addict to a changed person. One person joked that due to the nature of the man’s degree, he surely struggled with finding a job. “Second image is the before picture. First image is the picture taken after months of job hunting,” that person wrote. To which another person replied by saying, “Lol, I saw that he got the degree and was thinking, well did he find a job?” Another funny comment was that of one saying, “I finally figured out why I couldn’t get that 4 GPA. I didn’t do the first part.”
There were serious comments as well. One Redditor also wrote, “So glad he made it out of Texas.” Another Redditor left a motivational comment to encourage others to change their lives. He wrote:
“Important that people see this. Rock bottom is NOT the end of your ride. Even when you are as far down as you can get, and feel like you’ll never claw your way up, just know that HUMAN DETERMINATION AND PERSEVERANCE is real. You will prevail. You can take control of your life back. There is always a chance at redemption.”
Another motivational comment was saying, “An example of when one falls, they get back up, and seek out victory.” They are absolutely right. The story of how the man changed himself from being a drug addict to a new, healthy person is admirable and inspiring.
