Dungeons and Dragons Creator Summit
Wizards of the Coast didn’t expect the recent Creator Summit for Dungeons and Dragons to go south, but it very much did. Instead of following the planned itinerary, content creators took control and turned it into a critical session aimed at WOC. The summit became more of a roast of the company, with attendees expressing their grievances and frustration towards its actions.
On April 3, Wizards of the Coast organized a Creator Summit for Dungeons And Dragons. Notable content creators, influencers, and third-party publishers were invited to discuss various topics, such as the future of One D&D, the company’s diversity inclusion efforts, and the new virtual tabletop.
Indesrtuctoboy, who played a key role in revealing the OGL controversy, was among those present at the summit. However, the event didn’t turn out as planned and felt more like a press release, which caused frustration among content creators.
Indetructoboy reported that Kyle Brink, an executive at Wizards of the Coast, was unhelpful in answering questions, leading to tension during the VTT demonstration. This resulted in a lengthy Q&A session where content creators confronted the company on its practices.
Despite attempts to end the discussion, the creators unanimously decided to continue, extending the summit by almost three hours.
WOC responded to the creators’ concerns by taking action. The associate influencer manager, Dixon Dubow, was praised for his efforts in mediating discussions and providing clear answers. Additionally, some staff members approached creators after the event, seeking feedback on how they could improve future gatherings.
So not all bad?
