There is a new Kickstarter for fans of tabletop gaming and, in particular, Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition players. The Kickstarter is backing damage-themed dice. And although it is still open until mid-October, it’s already surpassed its funding goal by $45,000.

The Damage Dice Kickstarter provides custom dice based upon the type of damage rolled. A popular evocation cantrip in Dungeons and Dragons is Firebolt. These dice are customized to the type of damage Firebolt does, a d10, and are designed to look like fire. This serves multiple purposes for players. The dice are based upon the exact type of damage spells and attacks do, so instead of rolling a 0 on your d10, it is written as a 10 because you cannot do 0 fire damage. It also makes it easier to find your dice for damage rolls. When characters get high in level and your Paladin is rolling 5d8 for Divine Smite and your Cleric is rolling 7d10 for Fire Storm, it can be a lot of dice to sort through. With all of them matching, it’s faster to grab exactly what you need.

But the biggest reason is the foundation upon which every player buys dice. They look cool.

All levels of the Kickstarter have been unlocked. So backers can choose Fire, Cold, Psychic, Force, Radiant, Necrotic, Poison, Acid, Thunder, and Lightning, along with special d20s and Chaos Bolt dice. They come in their own themed bag and are available in all damage-oriented dice types to include d4, d6, d8, d10, and d12.

There are multiple types of pledges available. You can choose just one set, multiple sets, or even a larger pledge that comes with a shirt.

This Kickstarter will run until October 17th and is estimated to be shipped this December. An excellent Christmas present for the Dungeons and Dragons fan in your life! The original goal was $5,000. But with 578 backers, it’s already reached $51,801.
