Dwayne Johnson recently said in a tweet that Warner Bros. “inexplicably and inexcusably” did not want to bring back Henry Cavill as Superman in their DC Universe. Johnson most recently starred in the DC Universe film Black Adam. It turns out he was fighting on and off the screen. Off-screen, Johnson fought hard with Warner Bros. for the return of Henry Cavill as Superman in a post-credit scene in Black Adam. In order to establish his anti-hero “as the most powerful, unstoppable force in the DC universe,” he needed Superman present for that. The Black Adam star believes you couldn’t build the DC Universe “without the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines.” There have been long talks for years regarding where Henry Cavill as Superman will fit into the Warner Bros. DC Universe. Johnson could have saved Cavill’s place in DC films.
The Future of Henry Cavill in the DC Universe
Word spread quickly when it was thought that Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in the DC Universe was a sure thing. Now fans are not so sure. Since Marvel fans are starting to feel fatigued with all their films and series, the Warner Bros. DC Universe has the spotlight. Henry Cavill has been attached to some strong franchises, but that will be changing in the coming years. Johnson thinks they can “now build out the DC Universe, properly, strategically and smartly.” It’s all due to Warner Bros. agreeing to Cavill appearing as Superman in the DC Universe film Black Adam, starring Johnson. The future of the DC Universe under Warner Bros. is uncertain, and which heroes they will continue to show remains unclear. Johnson at least feels more at ease with his character’s place in the DC Universe after the cameo by Cavill in Black Adam.
Would you like to see Cavill return as Superman or have him and Black Adam in a film together?
