Back in the futuristic-sounding year of 2000, one of the greatest game franchises ever was released and it was called Deus Ex (that’s called editorializing, kids). Since then, the franchise has seen four major releases, Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Deus Ex: The Fall. In April of this year, Square Enix announced a new installment in the series, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Mankind Divided will pick up two years after Human Revolution and continue the story of Adam Jensen. By continuing Jensen’s story, it will be easily identifiable with people who have only played the “core two” of Deus Ex (Deus Ex and Human Revolution). The atmosphere looks very similar to Human Revolution–dark grey, dirty, and dystopian–and it looks like we will still get the freedom of character development for which the Deus Ex universe is so well-known.
In this installment, Adam Jensen fights against “aug apartheid” as a member of a special forces group of augs, against which he is a double-agent, as he suspects that the group he is a part of is run by the Illuminati as a ploy to draw out powerful augs. If you could follow that sentence, you know that this means the new installment of Deus Ex will feature all the intrigue and plot twists we’ve come to expect form this title.
No exact release date has been announced, but Square Enix promises a release in early 2016 to PS4, Xbox One, and Windows.
