Microsoft have just unveiled a brand new controller coming to the Xbox One.
The Xbox One Elite Controller is styled as a controller for the most hardcore, elite gamers. It keeps the familiar Xbox controller layout but has a number of notable changes.
Firstly, all buttons are remappable to suit each players particular style, thumb stick customisation, and configuration for the controllers triggers. The new controller also features a 3.5mm headset jack and the modified accessory port seen in the recently update regular Xbox One Controller.
Also of notable difference is the D-pad. Unlike the current four-way D-pad on the Xbox One controller, the Elite controller features what looks like a radial dish. This new D-pad looks like it will be similar to the D-pad used in the Xbox 360 controller, allowing for eight directions of play.
But perhaps the biggest change is that the controller features completely swappable components. How exactly this will work and what components will be available (and for that matter at what price) hasn’t been revealed yet.
The new Elite Controller is expected to be out this fall, but there has been no word yet on price or availability.
