Skull & Bones, the Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag spin-off, appears to be coming along nicely. It was first announced at last year’s E3, and definitely got our trigger fingers itching. At this year’s Ubisoft E3 presentation, they had two lengthy new videos to show: a cinematic trailer and a taste for the gameplay.  Take a look at the cinematic trailer first:

Next up, here’s a taste of the gameplay of Skull & Bones with the “Hunting Grounds” video:

As you can gather from the videos, there’s a lot going on with Skull & Bones. Here is what it looks like we can expect:

  • A semi-open world. It remains to be seen just how open the world of Skull & Bones is, but it definitely looks like it gives you some options as far as choosing what you want to do.
  • Customizable ships. Pick your weapons, pick your frame, and pick your figurehead! It looks like there will be a lot of ways to customize your ship, and being able to identify other ships on sight will probably be useful.
  • Tactical variety. You can disguise yourself to sneak past certain ships, and will need to team up to take down certain targets.

Hopefully Skull & Bones is able to learn from the mistakes of Sea of Thieves. Beta sign ups for Skull & Bones are open on the Ubisoft website, and the game is scheduled to release in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
