Gamers have found ways to earn infinite money in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. With such an expansive world, it was only a matter of time before someone found a way to exploit it. Keep in mind that these are not hacks.
Here’s how to do it:
Currently, the most popular exploit is killing cows. The White Orchard is a great place for this first one. Kill the two cows at the entrance and harvest their hide. This will get you 27 coins for each if you sell it to the nearest merchant. After waiting for about two hours, you can repeat the process. However, the merchants will not have a lot of money to trade, so you’ll either have to mediate or go to another shopkeeper.
The other exploit involves buying shells from a merchant in Hierarch Square in Novigrad. After buying them, dismantle the shells at the armory next door. This will allow you to acquire the pearls from within and sell them for a profit.
Developer CD Project Red responded to the cow exploit, albeit in a more non-serious manner.
“Nilfgaardian representatives are currently investigating the issue and exploring ideas to address the rapid influx of cow hides on the marketplace of White Orchard.”
“Sustained cow slaughter may influence local economy and job market by allowing an unnaturally fast accumulation of goods, and also produces an undesirable effect of breaking gamer immersion,” Said Bobbe Malinka, Senior Scribe, Nilfgaard Press Department. “All instances of poaching will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of Nilfgaardian law, so cow exploiters better be on the lookout. We don’t want any beef, but we have zero tolerance for such behavior,” Malinka adds.
It is unknown whether a patch will be implemented for these exploits. CD Projekt Red is currently focusing on performance patches for the console versions of the game.
