One of the best parts about Elden Ring is the vast amount of different skills at the players’ disposal with different weapon types. And thanks to Elden Ring 1.04 version, many of the unusable weapons and skills got buffed and can now be tried out effectively. One of these is the Ancient Lightning Spear skill, an extraordinary long-ranged red lightning attack. Unfortunately, this skill can only be found on the Bolt of Gransax, which is a bit difficult to find. So for fans wishing to use this powerful skill, here is how to get the Elden Ring Ancient Lightning Spear Skill.

How to Get the Bolt of Gransax Skill

Ancient Lightning Spear Skill

The Bolt of Gransax is in the Atlus Plateau region, within the Leyndell Royal Capital legacy dungeon. Starting from the “Erdtree Sanctuary” site of grace, head out the doorway to the west and take the stairs down to the next building. Inside here, there should be an elevator going down.

Take these new stairs down, make the first left, and run along the hand railing. Players should eventually notice a small balcony sticking out the side of the building below and carefully land on top of that. The most accessible place to drop down from is the part of the stone handrail that is partially broken, which is directly over the balcony.

Gamers should notice a larger version of this spear sticking out of the capital, which in its lore, was wielded by the Great Dragon Gransax during its assault on the capital. Walk along the spear sticking out of the building, being extra cautious not to slip off until there is an item at the top with the Bolt of Gransax, which contains the Elden Ring Ancient Lightning Spear Skill.

Ancient Lightning Spear Skill Details

Ancient Lightning Spear has less FP cost when casting thanks to the games buff and can be unleashed much faster. Not only that, but players also have slightly better damage negation from enemies while releasing the attack. This Elden Ring legendary armament requires 20 strength and 40 Dexterity to use, with an initial scaling of D for both Str and Dex. Additionally, the ancient lightning spear skill costs 35 FP to cast.

While the cost has been slightly reduced, it is still a considerable amount of FP. Therefore, it would be unwise to spam this move unless gamers are willing to put the extra points into Mind to raise their FP. However, Ancient Lightning Spear is still good at pressuring enemies from a distance and can put some severe damage on opponents, especially in Elden Ring PvP battles.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
