FromSoftware has been one of the most consistent studios when it comes to delivering jaw-dropping, grinding titles. The Japanese company’s magnum opus, Elden Ring, is widely considered to be one of the best open-world video game experiences available. And now Microsoft is hinting at Elden Ring making its way onto Xbox Game Pass ahead of its DLC expansion.
The Vice President for Game Creator Experience and Ecosystem at Xbox, Sarah Bond, went on Twitter and tweeted certain emoji that sent the Xbox community ablaze. The tweet consisted of an emoji of an old person and one of a ring. Clearly, that was referring to Elden Ring, but then to squash any doubts, Bond posted a picture of Elden Ring, confirming that the speculations were correct.
Elden Ring Coming to Game Pass Before the Release Of DLC
The community instantly started guessing what this could mean, with the majority agreeing that this implies that Elden Ring is making its way onto Xbox Game Pass. Others went wild and started suggesting that Microsoft is planning on acquiring FromSoftware, which is probably not the case. But it is almost certain that Microsoft will be adding Elden Ring to Game Pass, allowing a lot more people to experience the grand scope of the Lands Between.
FromSoftware hasn’t had any games on Game Pass in the past. So, this is a big deal in that respect. But it is quite a sensible decision to get as many people as possible to play Elden Ring before launching the game’s first DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. The upcoming DLC is going to be a massive addition to an already huge game, and that can be seen by how long FromSoftware has been working on it.
Elden Ring came out in February 2022 and has since sold a staggering 20 million copies. Needless to say, the game’s expansion will probably be quite popular as well among the dedicated fanbase when it comes out in fall 2023 or early 2024.
