Despite being in development since 2017, not much of From Software’s next game, Elden Ring, has been shown to the public. At least not yet. If recent rumors are to be believed, the game has been finished, bar some all-important polishing, and it would have actually released this year had it not been for the COVID pandemic. If you’re not aware, Elden Ring is the next game from Dark Souls developer, From Software. A collaborative effort between game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and professional procrastinator George R.R. Martin, Elden Souls looks set to be another fantastic entry in the Soulsbourne genre. If only we could see some gameplay.
It seems that just having the game in development is enough for the fans as Elden Ring managed to win the award for the most anticipated game at the recent Game Awards. After this, Yasuhiro Kitao who handles communication, marketing, and promotion has taken to Twitter to address the fans.
He had this to say:
Our sincerest thanks go out to everyone who voted for Elden Ring at TGA, and to all of you who continue to support us. By virtue of those who play our games and continue to hold us to a high standard, we can forge ahead with development undaunted and highly motivated. Thank you.”
He followed this up by asking fans to take care of themselves and to enjoy the new year in good health and spirits, before finishing off with “see you in 2021.” Now, this isn’t exactly a confirmation that we’ll definitely get Elden Ring in 2021, but here’s hoping. At the very least we should hopefully see some gameplay shortly. I can’t wait.
Let us know in the comments how excited you are for Elden Ring (hopefully coming in 2021), and be sure to let us know what your favorite From Software game is.
