Many fans came away from the Bethesda E3 conference disappointed, as they announced a lot of already released content that will get new ports to VR (Fallout 4 and Doom) or the Switch (Skyrim). Not only was the game everyone was craving not announced at the conference, it appears Elder Scrolls 6 isn’t even in development.
According to PCGamesN, a day after their conference Bethesda vice president told Geoff Keighley that the company has “at least two major titles that they are working on before we’re gonna get to Elder Scrolls 6.” He didn’t state which games those were, but it could likely company’s two biggest reveals at E3, Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
While Bethesda is adamant they want to focus on those two products, a reason for delaying Elder Scrolls 6 could also span from working on the most recent release in the series. Despite a tepid start, Elder Scroll Online has seen a lot of patches and content updates, including a newly released Morrowind expansion pack.
If Softworks did end up releasing the newest installment in the ongoing Elder Scrolls Saga, the player base for Elder Scrolls Online would diminish rapidly, with another Elder Scrolls game to satiate their needs and soak up their time. Yet that still doesn’t deter them from releasing Skyrim for the umpteenth time, even though it will be for a brand new system on the Switch.
As a result of all this, it looks like we won’t be seeing any news regarding Elder Scrolls 6 in the near future. So be sure not to hold your breath for the next couple of E3 in regards to its announcement because you’re probably more likely to get another Skyrim re-release before hearing anything about it.
