A customer was waiting in line at the CVS pharmacy when they witnessed something that astounded them. An elderly California man, who didn’t speak English, was struggling to use their check-in system. But instead of being met with a patient worker, the CVS employee treated him poorly for his struggles.
TikTok user Raulthebagchaser1, Raul, was the customer in line at CVS and the one recording. He witnessed the elderly man struggling with the iPad check-in system. However, because he couldn’t speak English and had little experience with technology, it was a struggle.
The elderly man was approached by a CVS employee who asked him, “What is the problem?” right from the get-go. In Raul’s video, the physician tries to assist the elderly man, telling him to put in his birthday in an exasperated way. The worker then walks back over to the man after a moment. She asks, “Why not ask for help?” She asks the man, who is smiling but appears frustrated, for his exact birthday.
The woman shows him how to enter his birthday in a very demanding way. The pharmacy technician then tells him that he needs to use the technology correctly. She rudely adds, “And if you can’t, bring someone who can with you.” She helps him finish his check-in and then walks away.
Raul believes the way the CVS worker handled the situation was “rude” when elderly people deserve “kindness and dignity.” He shared in the comments that he “spoke with her directly” and made a report to management.
People online rush to aid the elderly man by advocating for him
Not only were many viewers very sympathetic to the elderly man, but some commenters also shared they’d be making formal complaints, too. Even the man’s family chimed in, saying they’d be doing the same.
Among the top comments, a TikTok user claiming to be the elderly customer’s daughter thanked Raul. She said she wasn’t even aware that this happened and would be filing a complaint, too. “Given that he only had three kids one whom passed away 8 years ago and another who has Down syndrome I am the only one who helps both my senior parents and can’t always be there. God bless you for your kind heart.”
Another commenter wrote, “I’m calling CVS tomorrow and then calling and emailing corporate.” One commenter wrote that the CVS employee was their neighbor. “…Can’t believe he was treated like that he is the most kindest person ever.”
As expected, Raul’s audience wasn’t too happy with how the customer was treated. In fact, some viewers were calling for her to be fired and were awaiting an update.
