Elon Musk‘s recent Auschwitz visit was an eye-opener and an adventure filled with emotions for the billionaire. On Monday, Musk visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland, a haunting reminder of the atrocities committed during the Holocaust. In a rare display of vulnerability during the visit, Elon Musk shared his thoughts on antisemitism. The businessman acknowledged his own naivety regarding the persistence and gravity of antisemitism.
Details of Elon Musk’s Auschwitz Visit
Musk has been pushing back allegations of antisemitism in recent months. From visiting Israel to hosting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his factory in California, the 52-year-old has shown he bears no hatred toward Jews. On Monday, Musk took his penitence tour to the next level by visiting the former Nazi death camp in Auschwitz. During Elon Musk’s Auschwitz visit, he participated in a memorial service organized by the European Jewish Association. Musk lit a candle and laid a wreath in memory of the millions of Jews murdered in the holocaust.
The X owner didn’t go on the adventure alone, as he was photographed with his son, Techno Mechanicus. The photo also showed Musk posing next to Daily Wire podcaster Ben Shapiro and Holocaust survivor Gidon Lev.
Elon Musk Talks About Antisemitism
Following his visit to the death camp, Musk had an interview where he talked about the moving experience.
“It hits you much more in the heart when you see it in person. I think it will take a few days to sink in, frankly,” he noted.
Elon Musk also shared his thoughts on antisemitism. He admitted to being “naive” about the recent surge in antisemitism, all thanks to his close relationships with Jews.
“It’s not like I have one Jewish friend. Two-thirds of my friends are Jewish. I’m like Jewish by association,” Musk said.
Elsewhere during the interview, the world’s richest man spoke about the impact technology would have had on the Holocaust. According to him, if the technology available today was present years ago, it would have prevented the horrible genocide.
“If there would have been social media, it would have been impossible to hide,” he noted.
In all, Musk hopes to win back advertisers following accusations that he was allowing antisemitic content on X.
