Divorce rings are fast becoming a thing, and the latest celebrity to hop on the trend is Emily Ratajkowski. The model tied the knot with movie producer Sebastian Bear-McClard in 2018, just weeks after their relationship went public. Just as spontaneously as it commenced, their union soon came to an end, with a highly publicized divorce over claims that Sebastian was a serial cheater. They finalized their separation in September 2022. Their marriage yielded one son, Sylvester Bear-McClard.
Emly Ratajkowski Flaunts Divorce Rings in Topless Video
Nearly two years after their split, Emily is officially celebrating the end of their marriage. She utilized social media this week to flaunt not one but two divorce rings repurposed from her previous engagement ring. In a video, Emily Ratajkowski lay topless in bed with her hands over her chest area, flashing the two divorce rings. She wore one of the pieces on her ring finger and the other on her pinky finger.
The model shared more snaps showing her topless in bed, flaunting the divorce rings. In one of the shots, she lay under the sheets to conceal her topless look while positioning her fingers close to her face to keep the divorce rings in full view of the camera. She captioned,
“Divorce rings.”
Splitting the Rings Was a Symbolic Way to Move on Completely
Notably, to bring her divorce ring concept to life, Emily Ratajkowski sought the expertise of Alison Chemla. The jeweler was the brain behind the original two-stoned Toi et Moi ring received from Sebastian in 2018 to solidify their love. They wound up with a giant pear-shaped diamond and a princess-cut diamond with trapezoid side stones, both set on yellow gold bands.
Speaking to Vogue on Tuesday just after sharing the topless photos, Emily Ratajkowski explained the idea behind her divorce rings. According to her, the designs were inspired by Rihanna’s toe ring. She got the idea to repurpose her engagement rings while reading the essay of her friend Stephanie Danler’s essay, The Unravelers in The Paris Review.
In the essay, the author spoke about her grandma’s snake ring comprising the stones from her various failed marriages. For Emily, having one piece of jewelry representing all the lives a woman has lived was a great idea. She added,
“I don’t think a woman should be stripped of her diamonds just because she’s losing a man. The rings represent my own personal evolution.”
The last two years as a divorcee have indeed been a period of evolution for Emily. Aside from her career growth, the actress has become a stronger version of herself, seamlessly being a great single mom to her son while dealing with all the daggers thrown her way by critics with her head held up high.
