Entitled Massachusetts DoorDasher Insults Hospital Patient for Ordering Pizza as Their First Meal in a Week: ‘This Order Isn’t Worth My Work’

And the audacity to demand a tip after that?

Being hospitalized for a long period is anything but pleasant, but when things are so severe that you’re can’t even eat food, the stay can become insufferable. That said, a patient at a hospital in northern Massachusetts had been admitted for a week and was unable to consume any solid meals. On the day they were finally allowed to eat again, they ordered from Little Caesars as a special treat for enduring through their health complications. Unfortunately, the DoorDash deliveryman doing the order was anything but friendly to the patient.

“Excuse me, but this order isn’t worth my work,” rudely remarked the DoorDasher, saying how they would do the delivery anyway since they were in the area. “I expect a tip,” the driver said coldly. The patient couldn’t believe how unexpectedly rude the Dasher was and posted the conversation to r/doordash. For extra context, the hospital isn’t very far from Little Caesars, meaning the drive was of little inconvenience to the driver, not to mention they didn’t order around a busy time.

On top of that, the hospital didn’t require any fees for its parking lot, and the patient’s mother went out to meet the driver to get the pizza. Yet, since the Dasher was so unprofessional and demanding with their expectation for a tip, the patient was feeling anything but generous over the order. “He will NOT be getting a tip he will be getting 1 star review and a harsh rating. Am I wrong for that?” OP asked in their post.

While there were plenty of commenters, likely other Dashers, criticizing the patient for being so harsh on the driver, many felt a report, at the very least, was justified. “This is so carefully worded it teeters on the edge of both guilt trip and tip threat. Worth a report,” agrees one Redditor. “Bro acting like someone forced him to accept the order,” pointed out another.

Hundreds of others agreed with their comments and upvotes: “Why the delivery guy took the job if it wasn’t what he wanted to sign up for” makes zero sense. On top of “taking a job, then holding your order hostage for a tip” is absolutely outrageous. Delivering food, especially during the winter and early spring, can be challenging, there’s no doubt. However, Reddit collectively agrees that this specific Dasher was not just entitled for a tip but quite heartless for insulting the patient as not worth their time after going through what they did at the hospital.
