THQ Nordic was one of the most popular video game publishers that had gone through some rough times, but now it seems they want to make a big comeback. Recently, they held a showcase where they announced new games and showed new footage from already announced games like Alone in the Dark and Last Train Home. In case you missed the showcase, here is everything announced in the THQ Nordic August 2023 Showcase.
Every Game Announced at THQ Nordic August 2023 Showcase
Around 11 games were shown and announced in the THQ Nordic showcase. The game that probably caught everyone’s eye was TMNT: The Last Ronin, which we knew was in development. Apart from that, the next entry in the Titan Quest series was announced after 17 years. You can learn about all the games announced, their release dates, and platforms below.
Teena Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin
The Last Ronin is one of the most popular comic books set in the universe of TMNT. Unlike other animations or comics based on these characters, The Last Ronin is much darker and has a mature-themed story. In the trailer, we see three out of four candles getting extinguished, indicating something grim is to come. Black Forest Games, the studio that made Destroy All Humans! is making this game for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but a release window has yet to be announced.
Alone in Dark Gets Two New Trailers at THQ Nordic Showcase
The remake of Alone in the Dark was announced last year by THQ Nordic. In the showcase, we got two trailers, one focusing on Edward Carnby, a private investigator, and David Harbour, known from Stranger Things. The other trailer focuses on Emily Hartwood, one of two playable characters portrayed by Jodie Comer, the star of Killing Eve and Free Guy.
South Park: Snow Day Announced and Coming Next Year
One of the surprises of THQ Nordic’s showcase was the announcement of a new South Park game. The game is titled Snow Day, a 3D co-op multiplayer game that will be released in 2024 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. There isn’t much information available, but from the trailer, we can deduce the game will have a similar style to Planet vs. Zombies Garden Warfare.
Gothic 1 Remake Trailer Was Finally Shown
Gothic 1 is one of the classic action RPG games set in a fantasy world released in 2001. The game became popular quickly when it was released, and now THQ Nordic is remaking this fantastic RPG. The trailer shows the dark world the game is set in, where people are starving and being worked to death. The title doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will only be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Outcast – A New Beginning Gameplay Trailer Was Also Shown in THQ Nordic August 2023 Showcase
Outcast is a third-person shooter game where players must survive and thrive in the alien world of Adelpha. In the trailer, we see some world exploration, the game map, and some footage that shows a thriving colony. Once again, we don’t have a release window for Outcast – A New Beginning but know it will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Titan Quest Sequel Announced After 17 Years
Titan Quest is officially back with a fantasy cinematic trailer. After 17 years, the sequel of the series, Titan Quest II, was announced at the showcase of THQ Nordic. In the trailer, we see a group of Roman soldiers entering the city, but a diety attacks and kills them all. We don’t have a release window for Titan Quest II, but it will be available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
Last Train Home Gets a Gameplay Trailer
Last Train Home is a survival and strategy game set in the Czechoslovak region. It was featured in the showcase with a gameplay trailer showing the management aspect of the game as well as survival and real-time strategy combat. Last Train Home will only be released for PC; there is no release date yet.
Space for Sale Trailer and Closed-Beta Announced in THQ Nordic Showcase
Space for Sale is a simulation game where you take control of an astronaut that must survive on a foreign planet. In the trailer, we got a glimpse of gameplay where you have to gather materials and use resources in nature to reside on this planet. THQ also announced a closed beta for the game that you can sign-up here.
The Military RTS Tempest Rising Gets a New Trailer
Tempest Rising is a base-building and real-time strategy game with military themes. The game is heavily inspired by titles of the same genre released in the 90s and 2000s, like Command and Conquer. Same as Last Train Home, there is no release date, and the game will only be coming to PC.
Couch Co-Op Trailer of Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy
Trine is back with some good old-fashioned couch co-op gameplay. In the latest trailer of the game, we get a glimpse of Trine 5‘s co-op gameplay, showcasing that anyone of any age can sit down and enjoy this game. Trine 5 will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 31.
Get a Glimpse of Customization in the New Wreckreation Trailer
Wreckreation is an arcade racing game with a unique style. In the latest trailer at the THQ Nordic Showcase, we get a glimpse of all the different courses players can build and race on. Of course, you can change the look of your car as well. Wreckreation doesn’t have a release window yet, but it will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
That is everything announced at the THQ Nordic Showcase. We would have hoped that most of those games would at least have a release window. Still, it is good to see THQ bringing older franchises back to life and making new ones with good ideas.
