Netflix cancels “Young Wallander” after the series aired for two seasons. But viewers are not having it. They have aired their displeasure online.
Like every great story, this series derived its inspiration from a novel. The lead in the story is based on Henning Mankell’s character from his books.
Fans were introduced to Netflix‘s “Young Wallander” in 2020. The plot centers on a watchful detective. After completing his training, he begins to investigate crimes. Kurt Wallander, the youthful detective, digs into the hate crime swirling civil unrest in Sweden.
The series stars include Adam Pålsson, Yason Atour, Ellise Chappell, Sara Seyed, Leanne Best, and Richard Dillane. But two years after the story began to grow on fans, they received a shocking one.

“Young Wallander” Cancelled, Here’s Why
Netflix cancels “Young Wallander,” and fans do not need to hope for a third season. Though the story has ripened for an extension, the network decided to pull it off the air.
Sources confirmed that the performance was not enough to keep it floating. Netflix’s top 10 global data recorded its second season as an epic failure. The series did not do well in English Language countries. At first, it stayed in the US TV top ten but dropped out of the chart. The same thing was recorded in the UK TV top ten.
However, the season was well-watched and scored high ratings in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Fans React After Netflix Cancels “Young Wallander”
Netflix cancels “Young Wallander” but ignites fans who refuse to go down without a fight. Many viewers went on Twitter to express their displeasure. Some fans could not believe the shock.
Meanwhile, other fans believed the series had run its course, and ended well with the second season. One person wrote:
“Aww, I liked this show… but it ended well in Season 2.”
Another noted:
“#YoungWallander canceled by #Netflix. What’s a shame is that it was a series with good ideas…but which was absolutely pointless as a prequel to #Wallander.”
It was not the only show that faced cancellation from the streaming giant. Series including “1899,” “Uncoupled,” and “Ridley Jones” have all been dropped too.
