For the Fast and Furious franchise, it appears there is no end in sight. The eighth film in the series is set to release next year. However, Vin Diesel has confirmed, via Instagram, that the franchise already knows when their next two films will be released as well. Fast and Furious 9 has claimed April 19, 2019 for its arrival while Fast and Furious 10 will be unveiled on April 2, 2021.
For both of these future films, they are the first to claim their respective release dates, which may give them an edge. However, nothing else is known about the two movies. Fast 8 is being directed by Straight Outta Compton‘s F. Gary Grey, and it is still too early to know if he will be returning to complete the trilogy. Fast 8 will be released on April 14, 2017.
Vin Diesel seems to be one of the primary sources of information about the Fast and Furious franchise, other than Universal Studios itself. Diesel and his cast-mates were talking about the potential of future films well before Fast 8 was officially announced in October. And with this newest announcement, fans of the movie series are assured that they will have new things to look forward to in the next five years. The Fast and Furious crew doesn’t seem ready to drive off into the sunset just yet.
