The Fast & Furious series will continue afterย Furious 7ย with the eighth instalment which is scheduled to release on April 14th, 2017. With the increase popularity around the Fast & Furious franchise which was seen these past couple weeks asย Furious 7ย has exceeded expectations as it has passed one billion dollars worldwide and is expected to close around $1.4 billion by the end of its run.
Fast & Furious 8 (working title) release date of April 14th, 2017 has the movie opening againstย Ghost in the Shellย starring Scarlett Johansson.ย Ghost in the Shellย which is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name will most likely have its date moved asย ย Fast & Furious 8ย couldย performs in the same range asย Furious 7ย which opened to $147 million.
Other than the release date, Vin Diesel has also revealed some details of the upcoming ย next instalment in the Fast & Furious series.
Fast & Furious 8 will take place in New York city. This will be the second in a three part trilogy which started withย Furious 7.ย Vin Diesel has publicly said that we can also expect Fast & Furious 9 which would finish the trilogy. Expect the ninth instalment to release in 2019. Kurt Russell will expand his role fromย Furious 7ย in the next instalment. Fast & Furious alumni, Eva Mendes (2 Fast 2 Furious) and Lucas Black (Fast Six) could also return to the series.
Unfortunately movingย forward for the Fast & Furious series we will not see Paul Walker as he pasted away in late 2013 from a car accident.ย Furious 7ย was his last appearance in the series and the movieย gave the late actor a worthy send-off.
Furious 7ย is currently in movie theatres. The next installment in the series, ย Fast & Furious 8ย (working title) ย is expected to release on April 14th, 2017.
