This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

I’ll be honest with you: I’m always looking for the next cozy game to add to my backlog. Yes, I don’t mind farming in a town full of sand or catching bugs in a land of fairies. However, I feel the genre sticks to the same playstyle we’ve had for years. Well, it seems like those days are over because Outbound is an upcoming open-world Solarpunk game that combines the iconic style reminiscent of Firewatch and the mobile base mechanics of new and upcoming games like Pacific Drive.

Outbound Gets an Official Steam Page With No Release Date Yet

Outbound is a game developed by Square Glade Games that promises to bring a road trip like no other. Instead of being in a forest full of cannibals or the ocean’s depths with alien fish, you’ll travel around on your camper van with a self-sustainable lifestyle. From what we saw in the trailer, this upcoming cozy game focuses on using your car as your mobile home. You can use many items on the map to build gardens, create rooms, and even install solar panels. So far, it seems one of the most original concepts we’ve seen for a survival game in years.

Of course, it is important to mention that this game is in early development. If you check the official Steam page, there isn’t a release date yet. However, many players are already showing their love for it, and I’m one of those. I have nothing against a gloomy setting for survival full of supernatural things, but something relaxing that lets me live off the grid sounds interesting.

What makes Outbound a game I’ll keep on my radar from now on is the chance to make a mobile base. Most games encourage us to settle down in a place, but taking everything with us as we discover a map sounds fantastic. I hope the development and support for this game go smoothly because I can’t wait to try it.

Outbound is in development for PC, with no release date yet.
