NBA 2k20 is the latest release in the 2K basketball simulation franchise. However, the game has been facing some major backlash from fans. There are a plethora of problems, from error codes, long load times, and glitches. Player’s progress bars have been freezing. which leaves the players unsure if their created players are making any progress or not.
NBA 2K20 is now being reviewed bomb on Steam. The game’s reception on the service currently sits at overwhelmingly negative. Customers on Steam are complaining about the game being an exact copy of NBA 2K19 with more bugs. PC users have posted that alt-tabbing out of the game even shows the 2K19 logo instead of the 2K20 one.
The 2K series is one of the most critically acclaimed basketball series, killing its only competitor NBA Live not once but twice. Live stopped releasing games the first time in 2010 after the release of NBA Live 10 and didn’t release another game until NBA Live 14 in 2013. Live restarted its annual releases until 2016 when they canceled NBA Live 17. NBA Live has since continued releasing games annually. However, EA hasn’t released an NBA Live game this year after NBA Live 20 was moved to winter 2019, but not much other information is known about the game. Therefore, it’ll be easy to predict the game is either going to be delayed or canceled.
Therefore, with the major lack of competition, it’s easy for the 2K franchise to put out a lackluster game and get away with it. There is no other franchise for basketball fans to run to. When NBA Live started releasing subpar games is when NBA 2K took over the fanbase. The only thing fans can do is go back and play older 2K games. However, 2K shuts the online servers down when a new game is released and stops updating the older games.
Comment and let us know if think the lack of competition is killing 2k?
